Blow Up

Blow Up is a site-specific dance project that encourages audiences to evaluate and reflect upon life in an urban landscape. Created in tandem with the dancers and the presenting venues, the work unfolds as a powerful metaphor of the pressures, constraints and demands of navigating an urban landscape in a fast-paced, success-driven culture.

Each presenting venue is considered a “Chapter” with their own choreography carefully tailored to the distinct characteristics of the space, and an inflated ‘boat’ as a constant visual throughout. Ranging from solo performances to full ensembles, these Chapters seamlessly integrate movement with the existing setup of the space, considering unique factors such as lights, spatial dimensions and audience proximity. The choreography thus becomes a dialogue with the space, marrying movement with the existing visual and architectural elements.
